The Ladokites Agitations on JusticeForNifemi

"It's so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone." ~John Steinbeck

Our napkin is still soaked in tears because our mind is grieved. Our hearts were tatteredly shot with the pain of death, the agony of the pain, and circumstances of negligence surrounding it.

On the evening of a Thursday, 22nd of April, the demise of Asefon Nifemi Bernard became evident. Sources explained that he had earlier fell into a latrine pit after switching electricity where he spent about 25minutes (another source claimed 45minutes) before being rescued. Sources expatiated that upon bringing him to the LTH, Ogbomoso, the medical practitioner claimed they couldn't attend to him unless the DSA presence is registered. 15minutes afterward was the DSA arrival on which the source claimed heard reporting the unavailability of oxygen gas. This unavailability of oxygen gas was not admitted by the hospital resident doctors, according to tweet. It was said that at an earlier instance that the health center could not provide an ambulance to rescue the patient to LTH. The LTH in their tweet also claimed the guy was brought in dead. This is the story of a waiting graduate of Lautech who fought for his life and lost his life.

Subsequently,  reactions and protests ensued, the students trooped out on display. Witnessing and partaking in this, it sprang to a question of 'What are we agitating for?' How funny! We all understand a common fact, that the soul of our beloved will never be brought back to life, only to our loving memories. But we all have an interest, that the death, serves as a lesson, sends a note of the message. What message? And to whom?

I owe to be sorry for my words may hurt like stone but demonstrations that don't have a defined purpose are almost equivalent to irrational display. Therefore, it is necessary to state our demands in clear terms, something that goes beyond 'who was on duty as at the time', 'we want to see the CMD' at the hospital gate, 'we want welfarism' a moment after, and 'we want our union back' at the school gate. It can't be told to the aggrieved that the doctors might be following some strict medical ethics that they've also sworn to as a profession, Of beneficence and non-maleficence, but Contribute to and comply with systems to protect patients. It can better be told that they are a frustrated old negligent fellow who contributed to our loss.

Henceforward, an opportunity to display our long inherent grievance. Maybe, if we had done this in the preceding case, reoccurrence might have been prevented. At a time when activism is dying off in Lautech, the likes of Comrades T. Mighty, Parrot, and TeeX (irrespective of inclinations) are pillars to hold onto. Special mentions to all that contributed. Probably, if we have had a leader to do this earlier, we might have been saved from this loss and other torment witnessed.

To be clear and defined, I have made effort to note the following as the demand of the student's body, whether the agitation is halted or is demanded in other forms, they seem too delicate essentials of our request. And maybe our strongholds can help refine my words.
•A mutually beneficial agreement between LTH and School Management to give timely treatment to Ladokites
•A reform and facility enhancement of the University of Health Centre
•Prompt return of the elective Students Leader
•Publication of Case Details of Nifemi's death by the LTH through the School Management, and announcement of involved officers, as necessary for due justice.

Martin Luther King had said that Violence is the voice of the unheard. It is in my candid opinion that this watchword when fought can, hopefully solve untold criminal story and serve the best Justice for Nifemi.
